The Swiss company invests in the 3D AOI system by Delvitech
12.07.2023 — HP FABRICS, a Swiss company headquartered in Canton Schwyz, has chosen the 3IS solution for its facility in Canton Tessin. As the manufacturing arm of HP FABRICS, HCS ELECTRONIC will soon deploy a Delvitech Aton machine equipped with the 3IS software suite. This implementation is expected to bring significant benefits to HP FABRICS in the production of assembled printed circuit boards (PCBs).
Operating in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, HP FABRICS has been navigating the challenges of an increasingly volatile electronics market.
“The real challenge is knowing how to adapt to a continuously evolving market,” says Germano Cominardi, COO of HP FABRICS and HCS ELECTRONIC.
“The need for a smarter AOI system is becoming more and more urgent. That’s why we are constantly seeking cutting-edge technologies that enable us to respond rapidly to customer demands,” Cominardi adds.
When evaluating AOI solutions for its SMT inspection lines, HP FABRICS reviewed multiple options on the market. Key selection criteria included adaptability, scalability, and the ability to grow alongside customers’ evolving requirements. Delvitech emerged as the top choice—not only for its advanced hardware—but especially for its powerful Neith software platform.
Neith is built on a modular architecture that allows high levels of customization. It incorporates artificial intelligence to unlock advanced features such as self-programming, significantly simplifying recipe creation through a cloud-based library and recipe management system. Its AI algorithms can autonomously acquire images and heightmaps with minimal operator input, streamlining setup and boosting productivity.
“We’re very pleased with this collaboration,” says Roberto Gatti, CEO of Delvitech.
“Having an Aton machine installed so close to our headquarters will allow us to offer the best possible support to HP FABRICS. This marks the beginning of a strategic partnership that will bring value to both companies,” Gatti concludes.
Delvitech Aton: AI-Powered AOI for the Future of Electronics Manufacturing
Delvitech’s Aton is a state-of-the-art Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) system, entirely driven by artificial intelligence. Purpose-built for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) applications, it combines advanced mechanical design with the powerful Neith software to deliver unmatched precision, adaptability, and efficiency in electronics production.
At the heart of Aton lies a suite of AI-based features—self-programming, intelligent defect detection, and a cloud-integrated recipe management system—that drastically reduce setup times and human intervention. A standout feature is the Training Manager, an intuitive interface that accelerates the creation, validation, and optimization of inspection models, ensuring faster deployment and continuous improvement.
Mechanically, Aton is designed for versatility. It features a fixed optical head and a moving conveyor, a configuration that, thanks to its Z-axis movement, allows for top clearance of 120 mm and bottom clearance of 140 mm. This makes Aton ideal for inspecting larger and more complex assemblies. Furthermore, it can handle PCBs weighing up to 10 kg, making it a robust choice for demanding, high-mix, low-volume production environments.
With its deep integration of AI and intelligent mechanics, Aton offers manufacturers a smarter, faster, and future-ready solution for optical inspection.
About HP Fabrics
HP FABRICS was founded in 2002 by Mr. Paul Hefti and Mrs. Mona Hefti and It immediately proposed itself as a partner for the outsourcing management of electronic products, aiming to distinguish itself from competitors. The ambitious goal is to take extreme care of the wishes and analyse the needs and try to create a tailor-made project to suit the necessities of the market.
This is made in the fields of industrial electronics and mechatronics.
to become a reliable partner for design, production and testing in a flexible, dynamic and dependable way. From engineering, to materials purchase; from the assembly of circuit boards to complete mechatronic products; from automated optical inspection to functional testing.
About Delvitech SA
Delvitech SA was founded in 2018 by an experienced team. The company develops and produces automated optical inspection systems for the electronics market. The purpose of AOI systems is to perform visual inspection during the manufacturing process. Optical inspection systems are designed using software that is based on Artificial Intelligence. Delvitech AOI systems are mainly used for the inspection of assembled printed circuit boards (PCBA) by electronic manufacturing services. The company has entered a collaboration between its R&D and IDSIA, an important research institute for artificial intelligence, and the Department of Innovative Technologies of SUPSI.
